Living on Vacation

We’re pretty much roughing it here. New apartment, most of our lives still in boxes, no internet.

Ha. No.

Sure, we’re not nearly as unpacked as we’d like, but this place is crazy good. It’s like living on vacation! Our complex is phenomenal. Seriously. We have a corner unit with a fantastic breeze that keeps the whole place fresh. It’s spacious and lux. Everyone in the area is so friendly and welcoming.

We hit the market yesterday to stock up our fridge and pantry. It does seem to be a bit more expensive than back in Wisconsin, but not as much as expected. All of the produce is top quality and perfectly fresh. And the health food! Wow. It’s not just a focus on healthier lifestyles, the food in the aisles is healthier. Where in WI there were 2 sides of a long aisle devoted to dry cereal, there is only part of one side of an aisle here. The main sugar cereals were represented, but the various spinoffs & copycats that take up so much space were just not there. It’s a great grocery store. Super close by. But not cheap. (& apparently Kobe Bryant shops here…)

I attempted to whip up some guacamole for our dinner last night using the fresh food we’d just purchased. Eh. I tried to create it by memory from when our friends had down it at a recent cookout. It wasn’t nearly as tasty as theirs. Guess I’ll have to call for the recipe. Mine was:

1 Avocado
½ Lime (juice only, might’ve used too much)
Pinch of Salt
Dash of Garlic & Herb Seasoning (I think they used real garlic)
3 drops Olive Oil (to make it looser, per Scott’s request)
Rating: 3/5 Stars
